Oracle of Ashes

"In the beginning, the hero’s intelligence is intermittent and limited to his role as a slayer of monsters. But when he manages to break the frame of his role, without abandoning it, when he learns to be a traitor, a liar, a seducer, a traveler, a castaway, a narrator, then the hero becomes Odysseus, and then, to his first vocation of slaying everything, he can add a new one: understanding everything." Robert Calasso, The Marriage of Cadmus and Harmony

Coming Soon! ’Manhood,’ written and directed by Eric Kripke.

Kripke’s ground-breaking project filmed real life brothers Sam and Dean Winchester over the course of 10 years. Filming every autumn for a decade, he assembled the same cast and crew to create an only slightly fictionalised account of the Winchesters’ lives from young manhood into early middle age.

Kripke avoids the usual traps of melodrama and false conflict, preferring instead to simply witness the normal milestones of young adulthood, the dilemmas of growing maturity, and the brothers’ incredible hotness. You’ll feel you are growing up with them as you see them gank monsters, witness their girlfriends dying in flames on the ceiling, deal with daddy issues, drink demon blood, share pizza with Death, and avert the Apocalypse.

‘Manhood’ - a life-affirming tale of how boys become men.  And alcoholics. And finally succumb to the Devil.
